Games
| This section is for all the games which I feel are worth mentioning. I have also provided links to the homepages to these games by clicking on the title of the games below. I will basically provide a reason why I like these games and then a few screenshots which I've taken and also some from the producer. | ||
Shogo is like almost any other first person shooter like quake or doom, the only thing that makes this superior (at least to me) is the use of giant robots and an excellent graphic engine. Monolith, the producer, made a new 3D engine called Lithtek which is far superior to the quake engine. The game also has a wonderful intro song that makes you feel like your watching a Japanese cartoon.

Made by the same people who made Shogo, Septerra Core is a totally different genre. This game is more like a role playing game. It is set on another world which is layered in different spheres or continents which make the planet look like it has another planet inside of it and so on. There is a multitude of different characters you can have and the range of weapons and magic range from swords to rocket launcher and cural spells to titan summoning. The graphics are wonderfully colorful and the music and audio are well done as well.
Ring of Red was the first Playstation 2 game I bought. It is a combination of the old turn-based combat board games and real-time "tank" warfare. Ring of Red is set about the time World War II ended. The only thing that has changed is that instead of Germany being divided by the allies, it was Japan which was divided, and as an added bonus we have "tanks" that walk on legs instead of treads. This was a great concept and the graphics of it look excellent, not only that but the way the engines sound and the designs of the "tanks" look like they could have existed during the 1940's.

Skies of Arcadia is probably the best role-playing game for the Dreamcast. The plot and world are unique because it is set in a world where instead sailing across water for transportation, we uses the skies as a means for travel and warfare in ships which look like old 18th century galleons and pirate ships as well as 20th century battleships. The objective of the game is to collect six different ancient crystals which have been lost since the 'rain of fire' before an evil kingdom uses it to conquer the world. These crystals control ancient titans which the ancient kingdoms used to wage a war which led to the 'rain of fire' destroy the majority of the worlds population. The graphics are fantastic and the ship to ship battles alone make this game worth playing.

There are first person shooters and then there are games like Tribes 2. Unlike all those deathmatch games of Half-Life and Quake, Tribes 2 takes it to the next level. The game brings military combat to the 23rd century with hover tanks, bombers, gravity cycles, air transports, and a whole closet of weapons. There are many different game types but the most common are Capture the Flag (in which each team has a flag you must defend), Siege (where each team takes turns defending and attacking a fortified base), Defend and Hold (maps where each team has a main base and then there are 2 or more other bases in the field which must be captured and defended), and also the common deathmatch. The game can support upto 255 players over the internet (although this isn't really practical with all the lag you would get).
