There is a tremendous effort by educators in the United States to build an inclusive, multicultural appreciation of the many different peoples, cultures and religions of the world. In our schools, our students desire and deserve the opportunity to express themselves and we, as educators, have the responsibility to give them a voice. Many of these voices are not being heard nor appreciated. Many are being disenfranchised, excluded and marginalized. It is the purpose of these World Culture Collections to help us understand others and to give representatives of those cultures a voice in our classrooms.
Teachers and students need a guide that will allow them to pursue their interests and to find books that expand the imagination and the adventures of reading.
