Welcome to our family.  My name is Dee and I'm the dad.  My wife's name is Yoriko and she takes care of our entire family, which also includes my father, Owen.  He is 87, in good health and the fisherman of the family.  I recently saw a bumper sticker that reminded me of my dad.  It said, "When fish hear my name, they tremble!"  I pondered that phrase, then felt a surge of humor, with the unwritten line, "then they giggle!"  My dad supplies our family with all the fish we can eat, and on top of that, we have our annual "Fish Fry" near Lake Cascade on the 4th of July.  But let me continue on with other members of the family before I start relating some of the fish stories that are associated with my dad and the sport.

Yoriko and I met in October of 1987 in the city of Koriyama, Japan, which is about 1 hour and 30 minutes north of Tokyo by bullet train (Shinkansen).  Now when I say we met, that is not completely true.  What I mean is that I entered the hall where our church met and two of the first people I saw were these two women standing behind a piano and singing.  I wondered if they were sisters.  They were not.  Next to Yoriko was Mariko, who was already Yoriko's friend; she and her husband, Katzusumi Kiyono, and family sometime after that  became my friends.  What a wonderful experience it was to learn about and see Japan through the eyes of Yoriko and the Kiyono family. Three years later, on January 17, 1991, we were married.  One of the finest and most significant decisions in my life.  What a wife!

We both pleasantly reminisce on the two years we had together before we started our family.  During that time I told Yoriko, who had, and still has, quite a penchant for sleeping, that she had better enjoy it because when the children arrive forget those lazy, sleepy Saturday and Sunday mornings.  Our daughter, Remi, was born February 5th, 1993 in Kanuma, Tochigi, Japan.  Our second daughter, Nicole, was born June 16th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.  It is now hard for me to remember how life was for Yorichan and me before the children.  One of my greatest joys is my family.

This is a brief introduction to our family.  To learn more about each of us, click on a name in the left-hand column.
